TOP 7 THINGS TO DO

With the beautiful autumnal weather we’re enjoying at the moment, there’s no excuse not to get out and enjoy what’s on offer event-wise.  We hope something from our selection of things to do will keep you entertained this coming week.  Enjoy!

REFUGEE FOOD FESTIVAL

Created by the association Food Sweet Food and co-organized by the UNHCR (United Nations High Commissionner for Refugees), the Refugee Food Festival sees restaurants in Geneva open their kitchens to refugee chefs. The aim of the festival is to provide them with a professional springboard and to facilitate their access to employment, while revealing their talents and their culinary heritages, often little known.

Friday 13th October 2017 from 7pm – FOOUND (16 rue Jean-Gutenberg, 1201 Genève) hosts an evening of Eritrean street style food from chef Fieruz Tafla.  Reservations not necessary.  Places limited on a first come/first served basis.  Cost approximately 20 CHF.

Saturday 14th October 2017 (dinner) – L’Olivier de Provence in Carouge (13 rue Jacques-Dalphin, 1227 Carouge) hand their kitchen over to Dekyi Dollar for a Tibetan menu.  Reservations necessary on 022 342 0450.  Cost of menu 59 CHF.

Sunday 15th October 2017 (brunch) – The brunch at the Brasserie des Halles de l’Île (1 place de l’Ile, 1204 Genève) takes on a Sri Lankan flavour with chef Thambithurai Sritharan in charge.  Reservations necessary on 022 311 0888.  Cost of menu 39 CHF.

DESALPES IN ANNECY

See the traditional festival of the Desalpes which has been celebrated in Annecy since the Middle Ages. This Saturday 14th October 2017, the festival that celebrates the return to the valley from the mountains, focuses on ‘return to origins’ with not only the parade of Alpine herds, but folk groups with their traditional musical instruments, local artisan stands, demonstrations of old trades, tasting of local products and a fashion show from 2.30pm. A real insight into traditional Savoyard traditions.

WHERE: Annecy Old Town.

WHEN: Saturday 14th October 2017 from 9am-6pm.

COST: Free.

FURTHER INFORMATION: Click here to the link to download the pdf of the parade’s route.
