3 COSY BARS TO TRY ON A CHILLY NIGHT
by Elena Pedrazzani
Geneva might have been blessed with warm weather way beyond the expected time, but we all know it can’t last. Time has come to face up to an undeniable truth: the nights are getting chillier. While leather jackets and mid-season coats might help you to still enjoy some of Geneva’s beautiful terrace bars, it is time to start thinking about moving inside to enjoy a drink (or two) out of the cold.
So, stop layering up and get ready to explore 3 of our favourite cosy bars with cool interiors and great food and drink totally worth giving up terraces for.
LOLA’S FOOD GARAGE
Most folks know this place as the “all-you-can-eat sushi place somewhere in Paquis”. Well, this is not the label Lola’s Food Garage deserves. The style definitely isn’t one of an Asian all-you-can-eat but rather a mix of styles creating a rétro-tropical-chic feel that satisfies the eye and creates a stylish vibe. On the food and drink side, Lola’s a total winner. They offer a happy hour (order before 8pm!) with tasty all-you-can-eat sushi and Martinis for CHF10. If you end up staying longer indulging on sushi and liquid refreshments, do try their cocktails – they’re pretty good.

MR BARBER
Situated in one of the most hype-and-coming streets in Geneva, Mr Barber offers interesting cocktails with cool, urban stripped-down decor. The cocktail choice here goes way beyond your usual gin and tonic, and you can lose yourself trying out the spicy, salty, sweet and sour options on offer. When you get peckish – and you need something beyond rice crackers and olives which usually accompany the drinks – Mr. Barber offers you grilled cheese tapas to melt for. The overall vibe is chilled but not too laid back at the same time and the location is perfectly central and a great spot to meet up with friends from all around town.

LE DÉCANTEUR
Steps away from the buzzy Rue Henri-Blanvalet, Décanteur is one of the best wineries in Geneva. The place has the best (Italian) wine choices, both by the glass and bottle options. Trust the owner, Luca, whose suggestions you won’t regret following. And then there’s the food. Italian inspiration that makes you happy you went for the carb option despite the calories. The open kitchen gives the place a nice, homely vibe and you can even watch the chef in action. The place isn’t huge, but perfect for a one-to-one rendezvous or small groups. Book in advance as it is very popular.
