A new production, sung in french with English and French subtitles takes place from the 1st-18th February 2018. The opera Faust, in 5 acts by Jules Barbier and Michel Carré. THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST
Oscar Wilde’s brilliant satire comes to Geneva for 5 nights from 27th February until 3rd March 2018 at the Théâtre de l’Espérance.
The Importance of Being Earnest, A Trivial Comedy for Serious People… This iconic piece of English theatre is an effervescent, laugh out loud comedy of manners. With incisive wit and gentle disdain, Oscar Wilde affectionately satirises the intricate social customs and futile pretentions of the English aristocracy in his most celebrated play.
Upper class bachelors Algernon Moncrieff and Jack Worthing concoct false identities for social convenience as well as to win over their ladyloves, Gwendolen and Cecily. But they must also manage Gwendolen’s formidable and hilariously pompous mother, Lady Bracknell, and a host of characters who contribute wittingly or unwittingly to the deception.
Tickets go on sale on the 4th February 2018. You really don’t want to miss this hilarious show!
WHERE: Théâtre de l’Espérance, rue de la Chapelle 8, 1207 Genève.
Come take a leap of faith on Thursday 1st March 2018 and get ready to be moved, to be surprised, and laugh by a series of personal anecdotes and stories. Everyone has a great story worth telling, come share yours or come grab a drink and get ready for a fun night of supporting your fellow Geneva storytellers!
The theme of the night is “Leap of Faith”. Interested in telling your own story? Do you think you have what it takes to pick the right story and prepare it for a live audience for no more than 6 minutes? Great! Send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Your story needs to be personal and authentic, your own story and a true story. Tell a story about something you directly experienced. It shouldn’t be someone else’s story. You can polish some minor details, but at its core, the story you tell must be true. You must tell your story without notes. Use spoken words to tell your story and restrain the use of poetry, songs or musical instruments. Your story will be limited to 6 minutes. This might seem like very little, but with a few rounds of practise you can crystallise the essence of your story. What is your story about? What is the heart, the soul of your story?
