NEED A BEAUTICIAN YOU CAN TRUST IN GENEVA?
by Chené Koscielny
Looking for a beautician in Geneva? Finding someone to trust with your buffing, waxing, peeling or plucking needs can be tricky.
First there is the price shock – looking your best doesn’t come cheap in Geneva. But unless you want to feel like Cinders next to the elegant Swiss ladies (or men), being un-manicured or un-waxed is not really an option, is it?
DIY beauty and flying back home for a pedicure is not impossible, but finding a friendly, reliable beautician near you can make life a lot easier.
Studio Beauté – Rosemary Stüssi
One of my favourite beauticians in Geneva is Studio Beauté at 10 place de Grenus, near Manor. The salon owner is the lovely Rosemary, who originally hails from Venezuela in Latin America, but has been truly Swiss-ed through the years.
Rosemary observes high standards of care and operates with finesse and professionalism that makes her stand out above the rest.
Trained in Switzerland, she specialises in anti-aging treatments, holds a qualification in cosmetic pedicure and is certified to practice electrical hair removal. She also prides herself in performing (almost) painless waxing.
Her two treatment rooms on the first floor are impeccable and calming, like entering an oasis above the hustle and bustle of this part of town.
Micro-dermabrasion Facial
Her most popular treatment is the micro-dermabrasion facial, using Derma Pod technology to ‘strip away’ the outer layers of the epidermis through deep exfoliation, skin regeneration and skin oxygenation. Rosemary combines the technology with top of the range facial products (Sothy’s).
My skin appeared brighter and clearer after each treatment, which has to be repeated every 6-8 weeks (cost CHF150).
Rosemary’s cosmetic pedicure, which also includes electronic exfoliating of calloused skin, is very relaxing, leaving your feet silky and smooth and followed by a cream treatment and polish of your choice (cost CHF80).
Her manicures, waxing treatments, massages and facials – including extractions and make-up sessions are also popular among a very loyal clientele of expats and locals, some who have been coming to the salon since its opening in 2009.
The best thing about Rosemary is her warm and caring personality. She is great at making you feel like you are the most important client and is always handing out a free hand cream or chocolate or offering you a special deal. There is no conveyer belt feeling here. Her attention to detail is phenomenal and she has a relaxed, yet confident air about her, which makes you feel totally at ease.
Although she doesn’t speak English fluently, Rosemary understands a lot, is extremely patient and loves chatting to her clients. She knows Geneva well and is a great source of information.
I look forward to my visits with her and leave feeling and looking great.
