TOP BEAUTY TIPS (FOR HIM AND HER) IN LOCKDOWN BY LOCAL EXPERTS
#SUPPORTLOCALBUSINESS
by Chené Koscielny
Are you scaring yourself silly every time you walk past a mirror because of grey hair, a wacky beard or bushy eyebrows? Not too long now, as hairdressers have just gotten the go ahead to open at the end of April!
Meanwhile, we ask some local experts for their best beauty tips during self-isolation.
HAIR TIPS FOR WOMEN – Cut down on the shampoo!
Marine Terrond, owner of L7 Coiffure in Nations, says now is the time to give your hair a break and get rid of chemical residue.
She recommends no more than one shampoo a week.
If you don’t like the greasy hair – cover the hair with a sexy scarf.

NO HEAT
Step away from straighteners and blow driers and let the hair dry naturally. Wear a bandana or pin hair back for conference calls. This is not the time for perfection.
TIE IT DOWN
Don’t wear a ponytail all week long – as this could lead to hair loss – use a bandana or scarf instead.
BRUSH AWAY
Do brush the hair – at least twice a day – in the morning and evening.
MASK IT
Nourish your hair with a hair mask, serum or conditioner (quality products, not the supermarket variety) and even sleep with your conditioner on – wrapped in a towel to ensure silky tresses by the time we’re allowed out again.
GOING GREY

As for colour – Marine does not recommend a DIY job. Most of the hair products you buy in the supermarket simply won’t match your hair colour and if you also have highlights you’ll end up with 3 different colours, which will be very difficult and costly to get rid of once this is all over, she warns.
For grey roots – she recommends a good quality spray such as the Kevin.Murphy retouch me spray.
– or even a good old mascara to colour in a few grey hairs before your next video conference call.
“Why not embrace the grey – if you ever wondered what going grey would look like – now is the time to test it! It’s very fashionable.”
She highly recommends Australian brand Kevin Murphy for quality shampoos, conditioning treatments and masks and she can order and arrange delivery for you.

A CUT ABOVE
For women with long and short hair, she suggests just waiting it out and letting things be.
“I know this is more difficult when you usual have a snappy, short hairstyle, but it’s better to wait. This way we can start afresh and be creative when you come to the salon afterwards. Once you start chopping holes in the hair – it will be much harder to fix,” she says.

HAIR TIPS FOR MEN

For the men a bit of patience is also required, says Cristina Le Jeune Giacobbi, owner of Dandy’s Barber Lounge (Eaux-Vives andPlainpalais).

NO TRIMMING
Don’t try to cut your hair or trim your beard by yourself since only professional barber can do that properly. The risk to have a terrible result is too high.

GO ULTRA SHORT
Instead you can choose to cut your hair very short (she suggests 2mm) with a clipper that you can buy online. There are many videos on Youtube to help you do this.
THE GELLED LOOK
Otherwise you can style your hair backwards using gel or a styling paste with strong hold.
GROW YOUR BEARD

For the beard, you can either shave it or use the same clipper to cut it at 1mm. For longer beards, there are no other solutions than wait and apply Dandy’s Barber Lounge beard elixir (Swiss Made) twice a day. You can order it via emailing us.
Be patient guys! Be ready to book fast online once the lockdown has lifted, since the demand will be high!
To support Dandy’s Barber in lockdown – why not buy some of their Dandy’s Barber Lounge Factory products – such as a skin revitaliser made with Swiss glacial water and and epidermal stem-cells activator or Dandelyian Eau de toilette.
