FROM TUESDAY 20th of NOVEMBER TILL SATURDAY 24th of NOVEMBER don’t miss the latest production by the Geneva English Drama Society (GEDS): Truman Capote’s Breakfast at Tiffany’s, the stage adaptation by Richard Greenberg.
The show will run from Tuesday 20 Nov – Sat 24 November. As always, patrons on Opening Night are invited to join the cast and crew after the show for a complimentary glass of bubbly.
Description:
“It’s New York in the 1940s, where the martinis flow from cocktail hour till breakfast at Tiffany’s. And nice girls don’t, except, of course, Holly Golightly. Pursued by Mafia gangsters and playboy millionaires, Holly is a heart-breaker, a perplexer, a traveler, a tease…”
Truman Capote’s classic novella has long been known for the highly stylized and iconic film. However, thanks to Richard Greenberg’s adaptation a whole new audience has the chance to see the novella come to life on the stage, in an interpretation truer to the original.
The play’s action is set during WWII on the Upper East Side of Manhattan and revolves around Holly Golightly, a Café Society girl-for-hire who charms and beguiles every man she meets. The more gritty stage interpretation may surprise film devotees, but Holly’s charm persists.
This stage adaptation will be slightly grittier than the film we all know and more faithful to Capote’s novel. Don’t miss one of the shining flowers of American fiction come to life onstage this November.
