EUROPEAN TRADITIONS
The Christmas season is rolled out as soon as possible in my house. As a New Zealander where Christmas celebrations tend to be a much more laid back affair, I relish the opportunity in Europe to fully embrace all the traditions and decorations that come with a Northern Christmas. The wreaths, advent candles, garlands, candles and twinkly lights everywhere… pure bliss for someone like me!
FLORISTS IN AND AROUND GENEVA
LES AUGUSTINS
In the Geneva area we are spoilt for choice with places to buy the most amazing seasonal decorations. A few of my favourite florists include Les Augustins on place des Philosophes. Such imagination! Don’t miss their special Christmas floral display on December 1 and 2 . Well worth checking out.

MOG DESIGN VEGETAL
Another favourite is the florist just outside the Globus Food Hall: MOG Design Vegetal. I’m always struck by the amazing creativity.

R. JAGGI
If you’re a little more out of town in the Nyon direction, I highly recommend R. Jaggi Fleuriste Vivaces Pépinière. All year round they produce beautiful floral art and their Christmas creations for the home are no exception.

THE HERB & PETAL BOX
Recently a small business has popped up in Terre Sainte called the The Herb & Petal Box. Two very creative women with floral and horticultural training have joined forces to offer beautifully hand made wreaths and festive floral pots. You can also pre-order layered bulb planters for Spring.

MAKE YOUR OWN CHRISTMAS WREATHS
Perhaps, however, you fancy getting a bit crafty and making your own wreath. There are some great workshops in the area where you can do just that. It’s a lovely way to spend an afternoon chatting to others and getting into a festive mood. And with expert help, you’ll leave with your own beautiful Chrstimas creation. These workshops tend to get booked out quickly so I suggest contacting them as soon as possible if you are interested. Prices vary so check the websites or facebook pages for specific details.
MISS DAISY
In Celigny, Miss Daisy has an atelier where she offers floral workshops all year round. Her Christmas wreath workshops are particularly popular and this year booked out in a few hours. She is hoping to put on more workshops and will consider organising workshops for groups of 6 people or more. So, gather a group of friends for a creative festive get-together. Her courses cost around CHF85.

LA NOYÉRE
Further up the lake in Mont sur Rolle you have the Marché et Workshops de la Noyére. There are a few places left on their amazing workshops but be quick. If you can’t be bothered to make your own, visit their special sale of Advent wreaths on December 1 and December 2nd – from 10am-7pm.

SOPHIE STORM FLOWERS
In Commugny, Sophie Storm Flowers is offering a series of daytime and evening wreath workshops.
Sophie will provide all materials, mince pies, coffee and tea and even some sparkles. Come with friends or on your own for some Christmassy fun and take away your own beautiful creations.

DESIGNSISTER
And finally Designsister (that’s me!) I have a series of workshops offering tips and ideas to style your home for Chrsitmas. I’ll show some lovely but inexpensive ways to decorate your Chrstimas table and entrance way and we will make a centre piece for you to take home plus a few other fun little things!
