TUESDAY, the 18th of SEPTEMBER sees the opening of Cinquième Jour (Fifth Day) – latest innovation by the so-called Mad Chef Walter el Nagar – and described as a gastronomic experience which blends innovative cuisine, healthy and sustainable food and humanitarian principles.
With only 12 seats around the chef’s counter, the Fifth Day is said to be the first chefs’ counter in Swizerland with a constantly changing test menu where the food is prepared in front of your eyes. Even more interesting, though, is that the restaurant will be open for four days of a week to the general public and on the fifth day will serve food to the less fortunate.
THE CONCEPT
“A gourmet meal is too often an experience reserved for a privileged clientele. We are changing this paradigm by creating an exquisite culinary experience while sharing with the community. Open four days to the public, our chefs offer local and sustainable organic dishes. On the fifth day, the same menu will be offered for free to the less fortunate, identified by our community partners.”
Expect to pay CHF100 for a 6-course tasting menu, excluding drinks. Wine pairing and additional options such as cheese pairing available. Pre-paid reservations can be made online.
