FROM 6 JUNE the 9th edition of the Festival Les Atheneennes, a festival of classical music and jazz, takes place at various venues across Geneva.
During 8 evenings – from 6 to 14 June 2019 – in the halls of the Alhambra, the Temple of the Madeleine and the Abri.
This edition will feature artists/groups such as Gérard Depardieu who will read texts from Saint Augustin (after his tribute concert to Barbara in 2018), Nicholas Angelich, winner of the Victoires de la Musique 2019 as soloist of the year, Alissa Margulis, Isabel Villanueva, Yaron Herman Trio, Emile Parisien Quartet, Jasmin Toccata (Jean Rondeau, Keyvan Chemirani and Thomas Dunford), Gauthier Toux Trio Feat. Christophe Panzani, and many of the most dynamic Swiss ensembles of the moment: Orchestre Tout puissant Marcel Duchamp XXL, Red Sun, l’Orage, Stade, Flash Pig, among others…
In short, a bold and original program: eight evenings, more than 150 artists, 22 concerts including 7 creations and 3 ciné-concerts, two afters Nuits de l’Abri, works by Mozart, Messiaen, Bach, Schubert, Morton Feldman, nu-jazz to progressive tribal hard-bop, swing cabaret to psycho hip-hop, ancient music to Syrian traditional music, DJ sets and a plant installation…
