FROM THE 1st OF DECEMBER 2018 UNTIL MID-JANUARY, the city will sparkle and shine thanks to the annual Geneva Lux Festival – a series of festive and fantastic light displays which will lift our collective spirits during grey winter days.
Initiated in 2014, the festival features contemporary light displays especially created for Geneva by Swiss and international artists showcasing Geneva’s heritage.
Some of the highlights of this year’s event include rings of lights on the Promenade de l’Observatoire, which constantly changes colours, created by English artist Chris Plant. The Encor Studio installed a new type of video mapping on the facade of the Hotel Des Bergues and watch out for a shoal of fish swimming above the Rue des Eaux-Vives, created by Mourka Glogowski.
TOP TIP: Geneva Tourism offers guided tours in English and French to the light works.
Accompanied by a professional guide, visit ten or so contemporary works of art which have been lit up throughout the city streets.
Let yourself be transported to the magical world of the Geneva Lux Festival.
Dates for the guided tours: Saturdays 1-8-15-22-29 December and Saturday 5 January 2019.
