Your afterwork or weekend in style on a private boat tour of Lake Geneva
with Geneva Nyon Boat
By Alexandra Osváth
So this is how you feel really Swiss. The wind in your hair, a glass of local wine in your hand… Lac Léman is all yours. We’ve found THE way to spend a day out (or have a killer afterwork) on the lake – here’s our experience with Geneva Nyon Boat.
DISCOVER THE LAKE AND ITS SECRETS
A passion for boating led Captain Gaëtan to found Geneva Nyon Boat recently – and we’re instantly caught up in his enthusiasm for the water. We meet Gaëtan at the port of Coppet, a postcard-perfect medieval Swiss village which deserves a visit in its own right.
We step onto Gaëtan’s shining new bowrider boat and instantly feel on vacation. Gaëtan makes sure we’re comfortable, and we set out of the port. We pick up speed once we’re out on the lake, cruising over to our relaxation spot.
Gaëtan slows down, stops the engine and cracks open a bottle of wine – and now there’s no doubt we’re on vacation! We savour a local Swiss white wine from the vineyards of Valais and relax in the sun. Our puppy (yes, we brought puppy along of course!) perks up at this point and explores the boat a little, taking in the panoramic views and the wind in his ears. What a life…
The boat can fit up to 5 people plus the captain, and it’s very spacious and comfortable. We split our time between soaking in the sun in the bow of the boat (the front, if you’re like us and can never remember which is which!) and moving back to the shady stern to cool off – the perfect combo.
We’ve booked a trip for an hour and a half, but you can even spend the whole day if you’d like! The more adventurous can try water sports on the lake, or if you’re more in the mood to relax, just sit back and enjoy the views. Gaëtan will show you the best beaches, lakeside towns and restaurants between Geneva and Montreux – the choice is yours.
Born and raised in the region, Gaëtan grew up exploring the area and makes for the perfect guide. We chat about his love of boating, and how he spends as much time as possible on the lake. We can absolutely see why!

OUR VERDICT
Yes, yes, yes. We loved our private boat tour on Lac Léman with Geneva Nyon Boat, and can’t wait to book a trip again this summer with friends! Gaëtan is a fantastic host and is very knowledgeable about the area. We felt like we were finally locals, discovering the lake from our own boat (well, almost!). And if you want some frameable photos, it’s the perfect backdrop.
We also think the price is very reasonable for such an exclusive outing – really great value for money.
