ON SUNDAY 29 SEPTEMBER come to experience some of the sights, sounds and tastes of Japan’s vibrant culture at the Japanese Festival. The event is organised by the Japanese Club of Geneva in collaboration with the City of Carouge, the Consulate of Japan in Geneva and under the patronage of the Japanese Embassy in Switzerland.
With the renewed support of the City of Carouge, the 9th Japanese Festival will once again take place on Carouge’s Sardaigne square.
Come and discover Japanese culture and specialties in a typical “Matsuri” (festival) atmosphere featuring various performances on the main stage and a range of attractions in the tents and booths lining the central lane.
In Japan, the new era of “Reiwa” began on 1st May this year with the ascension to the imperial throne of Crown Prince Naruhito. As the first festival to be held in this new era of “Reiwa”—which includes the meanings of “harmony”, “peace”, and “auspicious”—this year’s event will be a special and memorable occasion.
TOP TIP: This festival was extremely popular last year and very, very crowded. If you want to eat something without queuing for hours – arrive early!
