“False, wrinkled and with a diabolical tongue”: This is how Catholic nun Jeanne de Jussie describes Marie Dentières, a Protestant theologian. Both women illustratre how women were involved in the Reformation process, in Geneva as well as in other European countries. Many zealous activitis took an active part in the religious confrontations of the time, at all levels of society.
For International Women’s Day, on March 8th, the MIR invites you to explore its collections through the lens of women’s history, Queens of major European kingdoms as well ordinary women leading their everyday lives are the faces of a long-neglected dimensions of Reformation history.
