So, it’s official. Binge-watching on Netflix to bust the coronavirus blues is not only allowed, but actively encouraged!
To cope with the roller coaster of emotions you’re likely to go through in coming days, we share our top 10 films and series on Netflix to help you deal with all those emotions. So order in, chill and tick off those films/series you’ve been meaning to watch for months.

1. WHEN YOU NEED A GOOD LAUGH – don’t we all?
FILM: CRAZY STUPID LOVE
If ever we were in need of Ryan Gosling and Steve Carrell, it’s now. This fun family comedy follows the hilarious adventures of newly single ‘Cal’ and his unique relationships with family members. Keep the tissues near for tears of laughter! We’ve seen this multiple times.
SERIES: SEX EDUCATION
You’ve heard all about it, but couldn’t get yourself to watch it yet.
This series, albeit definitely not for prudes, also has many feel-good moments and hysterical laughs. Follow a bunch of high-schoolers as they navigate the world of relationships and sex with hilarious results.

2. FOR THE FEEL GOOD FACTOR
FILM JULIE & JULIA
This biopic tells the story of celebrity chef Julia Child, played by Meryl Streep, and one of her faithful fans.
Not only will its delicious recipes leave you in the mood to cook, but it carries a wholesome, hearty feeling that would go great with a generous helping of cake.
SERIES : ATYPICAL
This feel-good series follows the life ofautistic teenager, Sam. His adventures with family and friends evoke many laughs, and we are inspired to watch him navigate his weird and wonderful world. Guaranteed to leave you cheesily content!
3. FAMILY MOMENTS
FILM: THE KARATE KID (2010)
This 2010 remake of the classic ‘fighting spirit’ film, complete with a stellar cast, is a great choice for all-round entertainment. We apologise in advance for instigating any sudden martial arts lovers, but let’s face it – Jaden Smith is pretty cool!
SERIES: MODERN FAMILY
This infamous series follows the hilarious day-to-day lives of an unconventional family living in California. Don’t let its 10 seasons daunt you. You can pick up from any episode with a guaranteed good time in store! One of our favourite family picks for a cosy night in.

4. THE LOVE FEST – more needed now than ever before
FILM: THE PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER
This coming-of-age drama is full of blossoming romances and unrequited love. Based on the best-selling novel of the same name, Logan Lerman and Emma Watson help to transport us back to those days of young, teenage love.
SERIES: LOVE IS BLIND
A guilty pleasure if ever there was one, this new series follows an experiment to determine whether love is truly blind. Ordinary people meet, fall in love and get engaged; all without seeing one another. Skeptical? So were we. Watch an episode or two (if you can stop there!) to decide if you think love is truly blind.
5. THE TEARJERKER – your chance to let it all out
FILM: THE BLIND SIDE
Based on a true story, this Oscar-winning film follows a rising football star, whose unfortunate circumstances get in the way of his future until he is taken in by a good-natured family. Though there is an overall happy feeling, this film will make you cry it all out!
SERIES: WHEN THEY SEE US
Ava DuVernay’s stunning series tells the story of the boys involved in the Central Park Jogger case of 1989. The injustice and horrors experienced by these boys is difficult to watch, but a must-see none the less.
6. GIRLY MOVIES – to keep up the morale
FILM: CLUELESS
We had a hard time not putting this film in the classics category! A must-see for every girl, this film is full of romance, comedy and girl-antics – perfect for watching or (rewatching!) with another girl or even by yourself.
SERIES: CABLE GIRLS
This Spanish series details the intertwining lives of 5 women working at a telephone company in 1920s Madrid. Follow and fall in love with these ladies as they get up to a whole lot of mischief and mayhem. We recommend watching in Spanish with English subtitles for the full experience!
7. CLASSIC CHOICES – to watch and re-watch
FILM: LEGENDS OF THE FALL
If we had to choose one classic film, of course it was going to star a young Brad Pitt! This beautiful film details the lives of a tight-knit family amidst wars and heartbreak, complete with James Horner’s stunning soundtrack.
SERIES: FRIENDS
Now’s the time to brave those 10 seasons of this infamous series – although most of us have already! You could even use this time to refresh your Friends knowledge ahead of the reunion later this year! We can’t wait!
8. EDGE OF YOUR SEAT CHOICES – to distract you from your isolation
FILM: GONE GIRL
Sometimes, nothing else but a spine-tingling thriller will do. We look to Rosamund Pike’s stunning performance in ‘Gone Girl’ for our dose of goosebumps. It’s often said that psychological thrillers can be the scariest of all, which certainly holds true for this terrifying film!
SERIES: THE BODYGUARD
Richard Madden shot to fame after his captivating performance as an MP’s bodyguard in this scarily realistic series. This series is the definition of addictive, with each episode melting into the next. Our top pick for a thrilling yet binge-worthy watch!
9. THE FOREIGN CHOICE – for art and culture lovers
FILM: THE LIVES OF OTHERS
This German film won an Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film. Its plot
consists of a secret police agent spying on a writer in 1984 East Berlin, becoming increasingly interested by the man’s life and actions. Look no further for a European masterpiece that will leave you engaged until the very end.
SERIES: MONEY HEIST
The series that everybody is talking about. Another sensational Spanish work, complete with action, romance and lots of those irresistible cliffhanger moments. Follow an unlikely team of criminals as they break into one of the biggest banks in Spain, with inevitable chaos. Me encanta!
10. UPLIFTING AND FUNNY – just what the doctor ordered…
FILM: TREVOR NOAH, SON OF PATRICIA
The start of Trevor Noah’s imminent tour has left us itching for a dose of his hilarity to bide the time. This is a stand-up event in which Trevor presents a collection of material all based upon real-life events. Though much of his life was far from funny, he still manages to leave us crying with laughter – that is why we love him!
