THE FOOD
For our latest picnic in our #Picnicgeneva series featuring delicious take-away food from restaurants in Geneva, Alana and I head to Street Gourmet at 10 Rue du Prince, Eaux-Vives, which offers healthy and fine street food.
They also have a second venue at 6 Rue de la Terrassière, as well as two new pick-up points in Bel-Air and Coutance. See website for more info.
Owner, Yasmina, has prepared two cute baskets filled with the most delicious treats and we stroll down (10 minutes) to the lakeside.

THE VENUE

The Jet’d’Eau has just reopened after 80 plus days of not being in operation due to the coronavirus, so we have to find a spot with a view of the city’s famous landmark, of course!
As we spread our feast out on the lawn, two couples stop to ask us where our food was from as it looked so yummy.
A few swans also show a real interest in the contents of our basket.
SO, WHAT’S IN OUR PICNIC BASKET?

We just LOVE the surprise when unpacking a picnic basket packed by someone else!
Every treat is a discovery!
We unpack delightful stack of generous homemade wraps which we fill with crunchy, tasty falafels and top with a lemony tahini sauce and some other interesting sauces, including a new barbecue sauce.
We nibble on Zaatar crackers (CHF7) made from Lebanese Zaatar and oats (without gluten) and which we dip into a tangy lemon houmous and a beetroot houmous
(A box of 10 falafels with tahini and wraps cost CHF25)
Houmous costs CHF6 and pink houmous CHF7
FRESH SALADS
The Quinoa in Wonderland feta, quinoa and cranberry salad is a real hit, with a lovely crunchiness and fresh taste. (CHF17)
We also try the new Billie Green salad, which is packed with goodness and taste with broccoli, avocado, salmon gravlax, pumpkin seeds, artichoke and Chimichurri (CHF19)

TO DRINK

Black lemonade (CHF6)
Lemon, mint and vegetable charcoal, which is meant to prevent toxins from being absorbed in the body. Tastes not bad at all, too.
Organic homemade iced tea (CHF 4)
A SWEET TREAT
Our dessert options include a raspberry chia pudding (CHF7) and the highly popular Brooklyn spekuloos cheesecake (CHF7) – and a bag of homemade Brisolina (CHF5).
We both LOVED the cheesecake!

VERDICT

Perfect picnic food – different tastes, easy to assemble, delicious and fills passers-by with food envy!
