ENJOY A BRUNCH PICNIC AT THE BRUNSWICK PARK

by Chené Koscielny
In our quest for finding the best picnic spots and experiences in Geneva, we’ve come across the ultimate brunch basket from the Living Room Bar & Kitchen at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel de la Paix in Geneva. We love the idea of a brunch picnic!

THE VENUE

Right opposite from where we pick up our picnic at the hotel is the beautiful little park of the Brunswick Museum.
This is another ideal, not very well-known picnic spot in Geneva with a view of this historical landmark. It is right next to the terrace and water feature of the Cottage Café Restaurant, creating a calming and beautiful setting for your picnic. Get there early for a shady spot.
WHAT’S IN OUR PICNIC BASKET FOR 2 PEOPLE?

We love opening the picnic basket to discover the carefully prepared treats inside.
We are blown away by a cute egg container of 6 eggs – eggshells filled with different fillings.
2 scrambled eggs with herbs, 2 mimosa eggs with trout (hard-boiled egg, trout cubes with mayonnaise), 2 delicious ‘sweet’ dessert eggs with strawberries, rhubarb and hibiscus.
Next we unpack two gorgeous fresh salads – feta cheese, melon, watermelon and mint.
A bottle of chilled Dardagny Pinot noir is a great find, as well as two bottles of freshly squeezed orange juice, water and home-made iced tea.
After pouring a glass of wine, we start nibbling on the plate of Grisons dried beef and gruyere cheese, before moving on to the smoked salmon cucumber, Philadelphia cheese and Avruga caviar plate.
We also have a variety of mini pastries and a bread, but these go almost untouched.
Finally, we move onto two very generous slices of a tasty flan – like a cheesecake – which we unashamedly polish off as it’s too yummy to resist.

THE COST
CHF55 per person without alcohol
CHF65 per person with mini wine bottle

OUR VERDICT

The Living Room Bar & Kitchen picnic is a great idea! The food is interesting, different and excellent and the Brunswich park right next door is ideal for a brunch. Given the variety and generosity of portions, we think the price is very reasonable for Geneva.
