#GimsSwiss
by Chené Koscielny
Fast cars, flying cars, super cars, driverless cars, energy efficient cars, all the latest trends and every gadget a petrol head needs – await you at the 88th Geneva International Motor Show.
The annual Geneva International Motor Show, which takes place from Thursday 8th until Sunday 18th March 2018, will feature 180 exhibitors across 6 different exhibition halls.
This will include major automobile manufacturers, prominent designers and creators of exceptional vehicles, plus the suppliers of equipment and accessories to the Swiss automotive market.
5 MUST-SEES AT THE GENEVA INTERNATIONAL MOTOR SHOW
RACING SIMULATORS – HALL 3
Experience the thrills and spills of racing on 5 exclusive racing simulators at the TAG Heuer (official timekeeper of world of motor racing) stand.
There will be simulators to provide the experience of driving a race car or to perfect the techniques of economical driving.
FUEL STATION OF THE FUTURE
The “Union Pétrolière” (Swiss association of oil companies), who will be exhibiting for the first time, will present their perception of the service station of tomorrow. This will include, among other features, the provision of hydrogen for vehicles powered by this fuel.
FLYING CAR
Don’t take our word for it, but we have it on good authority that Airbus will be presenting a ‘flying car’ – definitely worth checking out.
THE STARS OF THE SHOW
The ‘star’ models of the exhibition will be released closer to the event. The « Car of the Year 2018 » will be announced on the site www.gims.swiss or on Facebook GimsSwiss. Finalists in this competition are: Alfa Romeo Stelvio, Audi A8, BMW 5-series, Citroen C3 Aircross, Kia Stinger, Seat Ibiza and Volvo XC40.
Also don’t miss the chance to win a new Citroën C Aircross SUV – from the 28th of February on the GIMS website.
ENERGY EFFICIENT
If you’re after an energy efficient vehicle, you’ll be spoilt for choice. The Swiss Federal Energy Office and GIMS have teamed up for the “co2auplancher” campaign that involves the promotion of vehicles that emit no more than 95 grams of CO2/km. Download the “Salon Car Collector” app to find the most energy efficient models at the show.
