HIGHLY RECOMMENDED BY THINGS TO DO IN GENEVA!
Taxibike, Geneva
Domaine du Château du Crest

One of the cool things about Geneva is the abundance of excellent wineries around the canton, but wine tasting is tricky if you have to drive yourself. Happy to report, we have found the perfect solution: A wine tasting tour in a tuk tuk – offered by Geneva Taxibike.

THE WHEELS – TAXIBIKE, GENEVA

We meet our driver, Carlos, in front of the Grand Geneva Theatre on a Saturday afternoon. Before we board, he gives a quick safety talk and explains the route we’ll take to a winery in Jussy. We would also be stopping along the way at some photo opportunity spots. Perfect! After that we are off!
The Taxibike tuk tuk is used for wine and restaurant tours. In addition to comfy seats with seat belts, there is a table for four people. The table has slots for glasses. It also has a place for a fondue pot, if you book the restaurant tour. If you want to listen to your own playlist, connect your phone for some cool vibes en route.
THE TAXIBIKE ROUTE

We head towards the Mont-Blanc bridge and proceed along the Quai Gustave Ador, with some gorgeous views of the lake. Just before Genève Plage, we start up the ramp towards Cologny. Along this road we stop for some pictures. Being higher up, it allows stunning views of Lake Geneva and the mountains. Perfect spot for some incredible selfies. We pass the World Economic Forum and then head towards Jussy, where we end up at the Domaine du Château du Crest – just outside of Jussy.
OUR TOP TIP – For ladies: Don’t make the same mistake we made! Don’t wear a dress. Although the tuk tuk doesn’t move fast, it moves enough to create a breeze, which is great on a hot day but not great if you’re wearing a flowing dress!
WINERY
The Domaine du Château du Crest is the magnificent winery where we will do our wine tasting, but first up – the grand tour.
We LOVE the stunning château on the winery’s property. The driver shares some history of the castle, including that it’s the only one in Switzerland that wasn’t named after a town. We also see beautiful peacocks that have taken up home in the dried-up moat. the grounds are absolutely beautiful and from the top of the hill we have an outstanding view of the surrounding rural landscape. We visit the beautiful ‘cave’ (also available for rental) and pigs, yes pigs! In addition to winemaking, the Domaine du Château du Crest is one of the largest suppliers of pork to COOP and Migros, would you believe! We ask about the images of pigs we spot along the way and next thing we know, we are visiting the pigs and watering them! This is a bonus for us, but don’t worry it’s not usually on the tour.

WINE TASTING AT DOMAINE DU CHÂTEAU DU CREST

Next, we proceed to the tasting room for the long-awaited wine tasting. We taste 11 of the 21 wines and honestly, they are all amazing. My wine tasting companion and I agree that we have never visited a winery where we hadn’t tasted at least one wine we didn’t like. These wines were all delicious.
These are the wines we try:
-Chasselas, Aligoté, Viognier, Landot, Chardonnay Pinot Blanc, Gamaret Pinot Noir, Chardonnay Sauvignon, Merlot Gamaret, and Chardonnay Sauvignon.
The price per bottle ranges between 7 and 42chfs.
Worthy of a special mention – the Chasselas and Landot – we invest in a few bottles to take home.
THE COST
3-hour TukTuk tour 340 CHF
with wine tasting 30CHF / person
4-hour TukTuk tour 440 CHF
with wine tasting 50CHF / person

OUR VERDICT

Wine tasting in a Taxibike is definitely the best way to explore the local wineries around Geneva!
It is guaranteed to provide you a carefree and most enjoyable wine tasting afternoon. Taxibike takes care of all the details, allowing you to sit back and enjoy the wine! We’re already planning our next outing.
The Château du Crest winery is also highly recommended. The owners Esther and Josef Meyer really created a wonderful atmosphere. The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming. I will definitely visit this winery again, as well as ordering their wine. There is a minimum order for delivery.
NOTE: Our Apero-tuk was sponsored by Taxibike. We only write about services we like, and we think our audience will appreciate.
