ON FRIDAY, THE 16th OF NOVEMBER, singer, author and composer of Lebanese origin, Yasmine Hamdan will be performing at Centre des Arts as part of the festivals Les Creatives. She is an icon throughout the Arab world, who brilliantly combines traditional, hip-hop and electronic musical genres and sings in French, English and Arabic.
In her albums Al Jamilat (2017) and Jamilat Reprise (2018), she questions the Arab world and the changes that are taking place in it. Having lived in half a dozen countries and immersed herself in diverse cultures, it comes as little surprise that Al Jamilat‘s creation takes the shape of a journey through which she collects sounds and ideas from the different countries she visited. This has further enriched her musical world and the sociopolitical dimension of her lyrics.
On tour since 2017 on four continents, she has bewitched audiences at prestigious venues and festivals.
This concert is organised as part of the Festival Les Créatives. Founded in 2005, this independent association organises a multidisciplinary festival with 100% female programming and advocates for greater gender equality.
