REFUGEE FOOD FESTIVAL
Created by the association Food Sweet Food and co-organized by the UNHCR (United Nations High Commissionner for Refugees), the Refugee Food Festival sees restaurants in Geneva open their kitchens to refugee chefs. The aim of the festival is to provide them with a professional springboard and to facilitate their access to employment, while revealing their talents and their culinary heritages, often little known.
Friday 13th October 2017 from 7pm – FOOUND (16 rue Jean-Gutenberg, 1201 Genève) hosts an evening of Eritrean street style food from chef Fieruz Tafla. Reservations not necessary. Places limited on a first come/first served basis. Cost approximately 20 CHF.
Saturday 14th October 2017 (dinner) – L’Olivier de Provence in Carouge (13 rue Jacques-Dalphin, 1227 Carouge) hand their kitchen over to Dekyi Dollar for a Tibetan menu. Reservations necessary on 022 342 0450. Cost of menu 59 CHF.
Sunday 15th October 2017 (brunch) – The brunch at the Brasserie des Halles de l’Île (1 place de l’Ile, 1204 Genève) takes on a Sri Lankan flavour with chef Thambithurai Sritharan in charge. Reservations necessary on 022 311 0888. Cost of menu 39 CHF.

DESALPES IN ANNECY
See the traditional festival of the Desalpes which has been celebrated in Annecy since the Middle Ages. This Saturday 14th October 2017, the festival that celebrates the return to the valley from the mountains, focuses on ‘return to origins’ with not only the parade of Alpine herds, but folk groups with their traditional musical instruments, local artisan stands, demonstrations of old trades, tasting of local products and a fashion show from 2.30pm. A real insight into traditional Savoyard traditions.

NO’PHOTO
The Ville de Genève launches the first nocturnal exhibition of photography, entitled No’Photo. Taking place on Saturday 14th October 2017 from 5pm to 2am in various cultural venues throughout the city centre. The one-night event mainly explores the projected image on giant screens, although there are many other exhibitions.

ITALIAN DESIGNS OF THE RENAISSANCE
A hundred drawings belonging to the Düsseldorf Academy of Fine Arts are on display at the Cabinet d’Arts Graphiques of the Museum of Art and History in Geneva. Dating from the 15th & 16th centuries, the Düsseldorf collection showcases the variety and richness of this art form during this pivotal period.
WHERE: Cabinet d’Arts Graphiques, Musée d’Art et d’Histoire, 2 rue Charles-Galland, 1206 Genève.
WHEN: Open from 11am-6pm, Tuesday-Sunday (closed Monday). Exhibition runs until 7th January 2018.
