FROM THE 17th till 26th JANUARY the Black Movie Festival and Black Movie Petit Festival take place in various venues across the city.
The annual 10-day independent film festival features Asian, African, Middle Eastern and South American films sorted into themes of society, politics, new urban culture, gender, etc.)
You’ll find everything from fiction, documentaries, experimental, animated, feature length and short films. Daring and specifically targeted programming encourages minority voices, candour, cinematographic quality and impertinence.
As for the festival’s competitive aspect, a Jury of international critics awards a prize from the City of Geneva to the year’s finest work.
Each year, a Black Movie for Kids section offers a program for small children. Master classes and round tables are organised around the screenings to deepen analysis of issues raised by the thematic sections.
Get involved in Q& A sessions with some of the film directors attending the festival and don’t miss the party nights (Nuits Blanches)
