BEST DAYS OUT IN MAY 2019
GRUYÈRES CHEESE FESTIVAL
This event is free of charge and takes place in the main street of the medieval town of Gruyères for the 18th time this year. It happens every year on the first Sunday in May when several cheese makers present their produce and show how cheese is made. A musical programme and cheese fondue will complete a typically Swiss day out.
Why not visit the Château de Gruyères and the Tibet Museum at the same time? Two sites worth seeing.

JARDINS EN FÊTE – COPPET
It will be the 14th time that this lovely garden show will take place in the gardens of beautiful Château de Coppet (a Swiss heritage site). The best Swiss and European exhibitors will have their new creations of flowers and plants on display, as well as art creations and furniture.
Even if you are not thinking of changing or adding anything in your own garden, it is a wonderful display of colours and will put you in a summer mood. A walk through the magic little village of Coppet combined with a stroll along the lake is always worth driving out to that side of the lake (it takes around 30 mins by car and there are parking areas near the exhibition). Under a big tent in the park of the Château there is a restaurant with drinks and snacks. The lovely, medieval courtyard of the Château will host brunches on all three days (11:30-15:00) in ‘Le Bistrot de Jardins en fête’ – perfect for Mother’s Day. ( two services at 11:00 and 13:00).
Personal tip: If you go on Sunday, you might be able to pick up your favourite plant at a good price.
