ON THE 1st AUGUST the national Swiss festival day will take place in the Parc la Grange. This year the festivities will focus on local women and their role in history – as the city vows to fight against discrimination.
As every year, there will be children’s and family activities, short films, concerts. A procession involving lanterns, a bonfire traditionally also form part of this festival.
Different this year, is a strong focus on organisations celebrating women and their role in the history of Geneva. Learn more during this national festival day.
For example did you know that the Rath Museum owes its name to a woman or that Geneva has only had 5 female mayors to date?
There will also be a giant sculpture and the public will be invited in the days leading up to the festival to participate in the creation of a dress for this “Gardienne”.
There will be bouncy castles, workshops for children to create their own lanterns, as well as beat-making workshop. DJs and live music will entertain festival-goers.
