FROM FRIDAY THE 8th OF FEBRUARY The Museum of Art and History presents THE CONQUEROR AT LARGE – Caesar and the Rhône: Arles’ masterpieces
This exposition includes a collection of exceptional items retrieved from the river Rhône following 30 years of underwater excavations. Among the pieces on display is a marble bust of, some say, Julius Caesar himself. This special exhibition sheds light on the infamous ruler’s Arles colony in the south of France, established in 46 BC.
Many of the pieces featured are rarely loaned by the Musée départemental Arles antique, and this extraordinary exhibition also counted on the collaboration of the Louvre museum.
