Tristan Perich is a striking young US composer who combines repetitive and minimalist music with digital arts. His compositions are based on bits: basic units of digital information which are either 1 or 0. Fascinating, isn’t it? Just listen to his record 1-Bit Symphony and find out for yourself. Two percussionists have converged on him: Alexandre Babel, head of the Geneva ensemble Eklekto, and Stéphane Garin, the driving force behind ensemble 0. Both have decided to work with an instrument that is little-known by the public at large: the vibraphone. The result on stage: three vibraphones and an installation with loudspeakers broadcasting electronic music in 1-bit for a flowing work that combines harmony with repetitive rhythm. Percussion enthusiasts, welcome!
