FUN FAMILY-FRIENDLY THINGS TO DO IN SEPTEMBER 2020
by Alana Dunsmore
With the cooler days coming, sadly it’s time to start looking for inside activities to occupy the kids. Here are some exciting new ideas!
Before that though, there are still a few more summer days left to check out our past two kid-friendly summer lists; 9 Things to do with Kids – July 2, 2020 and Family things to do in Geneva in August 2020.

COFFEE, CAKES, AND PLAY – Elisa Gassert
If you’re looking for a place to take your child to burn some energy on a cloudy day, this is worth checking out.
Elisa Gassert started as a shop for adorable baby and children’s furniture. As of 2019 Elisa, the owner, has opened the space to families for play time. It is a cozy area for your next play date with a friend. There’s a child play area and separate breastfeeding area in a playhouse with a rocking chair and breastfeeding cushions. Sounds like the perfect place to feed in private, if you prefer. A change table and highchairs are also available to use. Coffee and local pastries are on sale. Bonus, they have stroller parking!
The play area sounds like super fun for creative play. In addition to a play kitchenette and grocery store, there are small houses for the children to explore. The children can also enjoy the variety of puzzles and books available.

Check the hours on their website to see exact opening times on Wednesday, Saturday and often school holidays. With the current health restrictions, it is required to book a time slot beforehand on their website. Entry is FREE. You are asked to book your spot and only arrive at the booked time. The house will be closed between time slots for cleaning purposes. Check out their website below for ticket purchases and more details.
Wednesday, Saturday, and some school holidays
THEATRE IN THE COMFORT OF YOUR HOME – Zig Zag Zoug
This community theatre group is always on my list because it’s an affordable option to provide some French-speaking activities to a native English-speaking household. I was disappointed to find that there are no live shows scheduled for this school year presumably due to the coronavirus. However, you can find their past performances online for viewing at home. See the link below to view the video selection. There are quite a few options for a variety of childhood classics!
YOGA IN ENGLISH FOR KIDS – Wellness Only
Does your child love yoga? Mine does, so I was quite excited to find this studio in old town Geneva. On Wednesdays they offer Kids Yoga in the afternoon. They have two different time slots; one for smaller kids and one for children aged 6+. Classes are in English!
These classes are designed to allow your children the opportunity to play and enjoy learning the basics of yoga. Due to health restrictions, they have to limit attendance to groups of 4-6, therefore please contact ahead of time to book your spot. There is a link for their Facebook page with more information below. The studio also offers other classes for children and adults. They offer both French and English classes.
Wednesdays 4:30 pm and 5:30 pm
35chf per class or family card (20 sessions) for 560chf
WATCH FOR – Story time at Kids Time Club
The next story time at this cute kid’s club will not be until October 2, 2020, but we want to mention this event now so you don’t miss it! Each month they do a story in English or French. It’s FREE but they ask you to reserve your spot via email. Check their Facebook or Instagram pages closer to the date for more details.
