5 THINGS TO TRY AT THE GENEVA STREET FOOD FESTIVAL
by Chené Koscielny
The Geneva Street Food Festival starts on Thursday, 27 June – with a new after work evening – extending the festival by a day. Yay! Don’t miss the opening evening with DJs and a super ambiance.
Also new this year is the fabulous summer venue – Jardin Anglais on the lakeside – a stunning setting with music provided by some of the best local DJs, bars and of course, a selection of stands and food trucks.
The Kid’s corner offers entertainment for little ones, including cupcake decoration, yoga and cooking workshops.
But the main focus is of course: the FOOD – this is your opportunity to try some of the best street food in town at reasonable prices.
If we have one criticism – it’s that there doesn’t appear to be many fresh, veggie or salad-y options this time round, especially during a heat wave!
TOP 5 THINGS TO TRY
THAI FOOD: Debi’s Kitchen
If you like Thai food – Debi’s Kitchen is the one to go for – this popular food truck, which now also operates as a restaurant in Meyrin, has the best Pad Thaï outside of Bangkok. Just the right flavours, fresh, crunchy and delicious.
BAO BUNS – Baoty
How about a baozi or two for a snack? A Baozi is a steamed Chinese bun filled with deliciously different fillings.
After a few beers or Apérols that is sure to hit the spot.
FLOWERS ANYONE – AUX VOYAGES FLEURIS
This is new on us – a flower truck – and why the heck not?
Buy someone you love a beautiful bouquet of flowers to declare your love on the spot! Hell, buy yourself a bunch of flowers – just because you’re you!
Who says romance is dead?
DUCK AND FOIE GRAS SANDWICH – Canard Gourmand
We do love the sound of this – a posh sandwich with foie gras and fried duck served in a crusty, fresh baguette sandwich served with a truffle or mushroom sauce.
SWEET SPOT – Michael’s Cookies
We’ve heard a lot about these cookies – looking forward to giving them a try this weekend.
White, dark and milk chocolate, raison, lemon and nuts.
