Want to learn how to make balanced choices in all aspects of your daily life?
The Healthy Living, Healthy You Charity Workshop, organised by The Gift Box Girls, brings together a panel of expert speakers for a day of interesting and informative workshops, which will help you discover how to make the right healthy choices for yourself.
EXPERT ADVICE FROM FOUR HEALTH PROFESSIONALS
Let yourself be guided by four health professionals:
Sharon Jay will lead a light yoga session to begin the day. Sharon draws inspiration from the many forms of yoga she has studied and incorporates them together to ensure one feels they have experienced all the aspects of yoga from the physical strengthening and stretching to the quiet peaceful relaxation and that they leave with a calm and focused mind. Her goal is to make yoga challenging and bring greater awareness to both body and mind in a very caring manner.
Laraba Friedman, Balanced Healing – a qualified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, Heal Your Life Coach and Massage Therapist will present an interactive session on Healthy & Happy Living, not just food but everything that makes a balanced and happy life! Incorporating information on the problems with sugar (including a visual on how much sugar goes into store-bought prepared foods – even ones we think are healthy), why it is important to have a healthy gut and some thoughts for perimenopausal women.
Mandy Thomas, HQ – a qualified Yoga teacher and co-owner of Fitness/Wellness Centre HealthQuota in Mies will talk about the effects of physical fitness on Mind-Body health. She will focus on the choices we can make to age healthily and maximize our quality of life from today into the future. Mandy is passionate about supporting people of all ages, body-types and fitness levels to move and enjoy their bodies as they build strength, mobility and find self-confidence and inner calm.
Annette Ebbinghaus, Truly Balance – an ASCA certified therapist, Sophrologist, Mindfulness trainer, NLP practitioner, Hypnosis and IQM Coach will lead you through a session to experience Joie de Vivre from the inside out! Come and experience meditation, mindfulness and sophrology in one complete session. An introduction to these three practices and an exercise in each with the focus being “inner joy and peace”. Annette will discuss the reasons why these methods are more popular now than before and how these practices positively influence your health and wellbeing.
WHAT ELSE WILL BE ON OFFER ON THE DAY?
A light and healthy lunch will be provided, at which time you will have the opportunity to interact further with the speakers, participate in their great raffle to win some fantastic prizes, as well as enjoying a chair massage from Arthur Smith, the Masseur from HQ.
WHEN AND WHERE DOES IT TAKE PLACE?
The event runs from 9.30am-3.00pm on Thursday 31st May 2018 at the Salle des Societés (Halle de Gym), École de Genthod, Route de Rennex 11, 1294 Genthod, which is easily accessible by train (Regional from Cornavin platform 1 direction Versoix/Coppet, leaves 1 min past the hour or 32 mins past the hour and takes 16 mins) or the V Bus. Parking is available very close to the venue.
This event is presented by The Gift Box Girls (a charity I am personally involved in) to help raise money for the much-needed items that go into making up the gift boxes they prepare every year, which are sent to disadvantaged children in Eastern Europe.
These are filled with essentials including toiletries and school supplies along with a few treats such as toys, sweets and biscuits, as well as recycled items such as hats, gloves, scarves and socks (which are kindly donated by local people here in Geneva). These boxes bring happiness and hope to severely disadvantaged children living in extreme poverty.
The Gift Boxes initiative has been established for over 20 years throughout Switzerland and has sent over 100,000 gift boxes to East and South Eastern Europe. It is the result of a collaboration of four aid agencies.
In 2017 over 2,300 boxes were sent from the Geneva and Vaud Area alone and over 500 of these were created by The Gift Box Girls group.
If you have a donation you would like to contribute to The Gift Box Girls’ collection or would like to get involved with the group, please contact Louise on the email address given above.
