GETTING A SAFE MANICURE AND PEDICURE – IN GENEVA
by Chené Koscielny
What used to be a normal routine and one of life’s little luxuries for many women (and men) before Covid _19 – a manicure and pedicure – has become a bit stressful as we now worry about the spread of the Corona virus. Luckily, we know just where you can go for a treatments without feeling anxious.
We ask Yasmine from Vivienne Beauté, one of our favourite beauty salons in Eaux-Vives, what they are doing to ensure safety during manicures and pedicures in their salon.
Yasmine speaks perfect English, French – and some German.
Also see our article about the facial that is more than a facial at the same salon.
1. ALL APPOINTMENTS SPACED OUT
The first thing to note, says Yasmine, is that the salon only takes clients via pre-appointments. They only accept one client at a time and ensures there is a lot of time between appointments. This way your chances of running into another client are pretty slim.
2. THOROUGH CLEANING BETWEEN CLIENTS
The additional time between clients allows the beauticians to clean the surfaces and equipment between appointments. All nail equipment is sterilized between appointments.
3. WEARING OF MASKS AND HAND SANITISER
Masks are, of course, obligatory, unless you are having a facial. When you move around in the salon, you have to wear your mask and you’re also given a pair of disposable slippers for the duration of your stay. Hand sanitizer is available an you’re encouraged to use it.
4. PRIVATE ROOMS
The salon has private, clean and pretty rooms for face treatments, waxing and a big open space for manicures and pedicures. The salon also has air-conditioning, so overall a very pleasant experience!
5. NO PARAFFIN TREATMENTS
For the moment, the salon has stopped offering paraffin treatments as part of the pedicure procedure for safety reasons. All the other equipment is sterilized and cleaned between clients.
6. NO CASH PAYMENTS
As a further precaution, the salon only accepts payment by card and not cash during these times.
7. WORD OF MOUTH REPUTATION
What really helps is that we know and trust this salon. We know Martina, the owner, very well and have been coming to have beauty treatments and facials for over 2 years. Martina has become a friend and is a friendly, highly efficient and professional beautician. We trust her 100% and don’t hesitate to recommend this salon!
Although she’s on maternity leave, Martina is still very much involved in the salon and ensures everything is running smoothly.
