UNTIL 9 MAY 2021 don’t miss the fabulous Tulip Festival in Morges
Spend a day in Morges enjoying the lake walk with stunning views over Lake Geneva with the mountain backdrop and the amazing display of tulips directly on the lakefront in Parc de l’Indépendance. This exceptional site opposite the Alps lasts for six weeks and presents over 145,000 tulips of 275 varieties. Every week you’ll find new colours and shapes as more and more tulips bloom. The festival was first created on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Lake Geneva Horticultural Society in 1971 and since then the apprentices of the Morges Centre for Professional Studies create several banks of tulips every year. The park itself is beautiful as it hosts several monuments and some remarkable trees, which recall the celebrations of the independence of the Lake Geneva region in 1898. You can get there by train in about half an hour from Geneva, or it’s an easy drive with parking lots around the area – and the rates are cheaper than any car park in Geneva.
There are quite a few events going on this year despite COVID, from guided tours of the old town to a pottery weekend, a blooming fountains contest, and more.
The park and its discoveries are fabulous but so is a stroll through the city of Morges. Step back into ancient times and explore the Morges region’s castles, too, or the nearby arboretum with nearly 4000 trees.
