THE RELAXING MASSAGE EXPERIENCE
Candra asks if there are any areas I’d like her to focus on, and explains the principles of the Jiwa Utama massage I’ve selected. By blending deep-tissue massage with myofascial release, she will help realign my muscles and free the flow of the meridian lines.
She uses slow, deliberate strokes to revitalize my muscles and release tension spots. I told her that I carry stress in my shoulders and back, but when she massages my forearms and hands I am surprised at the tension! Typing at a computer all day (and not sitting in the best posture, I’m sure) certainly seems to be taking its toll on my body.
Candra also works on releasing the tension in my legs and hips, and applies acupressure in different spots. While I’d asked for a deep massage, I feel very comfortable telling her if the pressure is too strong at times, and she is quick to adjust.
When she asks me to turn over onto my back, Candra places a cover over my eyes. With soft music as my guide, I find myself drifting off to a faraway beach, waves gently crashing and palms swaying in the breeze.
I attempt to make mental notes throughout the massage, but after some time I give up. I realize that’s the beauty of the massage – I completely let go and float far away…
