BEST OUTDOOR SWIMMING POOLS IN AND AROUND GENEVA – 2019
Summer has arrived with a vengeance and we thought you might like a list of our favourite outdoor swimming pools in the area to cool down. Should you be a resident of the commune the pool is located in, you might be eligible to a discount so please check when you buy the tickets.
The opening hours and prices are correct at the time of publication of this article, but they can vary given the weather conditions and month, so please check online before you go.
PISCINE DE MARIGNAC
This pool opened in 1969 and is always crowded. It is particularly popular with kids as the main attraction is a big tube slide and a diver pool, which is 4,60 meters deep and jumping boards up to 10 meters high. Also a full Olympic size pool (50meters long) invites for regular training, while the kids can hang out in the wading pool with a small slide.
The restaurant and café has a big shaded terrace, lockers and loungers can be hired and the changing rooms and showers are spacious and clean.
There are lot’s of public parking spaces along Avenue Eugène Lance and you can prolong your stay simply by adding time on the parking meter right at the entrance of the swimming pool.

PISCINE DE LA FONTENETTE
This outdoor swimming pool has an Olympic-size pool, a shallow pool with a 100meter long slide and a wading pool. You can dive from a 1m and 3 m board and the ping-pong tennis, play area, volleyball and basketball will keep the children busy. The big grassy space with trees offer plenty of options to set up for the day and towels and loungers can be rented.
The self-service restaurant with shaded tables is a good option if you do not want to bring your own picnic. There are payable parking spaces outside the pool but arrive early to guarantee a space.

PISCINE DU LIGNON
A large, grassy area and three pools for training (olympic size), for swimmers and a wading pool for smaller children invite you to stay for the day. The big inflatable slide, mini-golf, a beach-volleyball area, 4 table tennis tables and a multi-sports terrain are great for children and adults alike. The self-serviced restaurant has outside, shaded seating.

BAINS DES PAQUIS
This fantastic lake side beach first opened in 1872, became public in 1890 and has since been renovated a few times. It is divided into two areas: one for women only and one for men and women. They have warm showers, changing rooms, as well as towel rentals.
Open daily until 21:00 while the beach is open 24/7. There are two sandpits and wading areas (50 cm deep) for smaller children, who must be accompanied by an adult, and two cordoned-off areas for swimmers.
There are also 2 saunas, 1 Turkish bath, 1 hammam mixed genders, 1 hammam reserved for women only (Tuesdays is reserved only for women). The Buvette is open all year around and offers simple but tasty food all day long at very reasonable prices.

GENEVA PLAGE
This must be the most popular outdoor swimming pool in Geneva for families as it has full access to lake Geneva and a really big lawn. There are two big swimming pools, one to train and one for the family and kids. The long, twisty slide is the kids’ favourite and they offer towels and loungers for rent. The restaurant offers a simple self-service area, as well as a lovely outside à-la-carte area. You can also bring your own food and drinks.

PISCINE DE COLOVRAY DE NYON
This pool is about half an hour’s drive from the centre of Geneva and is located right by the lake, so you can swim in the lake too. The Olympic size pool (50m) can be used for training, while the non-swimmers pool is great to cool down and the wading pool is lots of fun for the children. The spacious grassy area leaves enough space to set up for the day and its trees offer lots of shade. There are lockers at a charge and changing rooms with showers, as well a restaurant with inside and outside seating.
There is a big parking lot in front of the swimming pool but we suggest you arrive early to find a spot.
