GENEVA STREET FOOD FESTIVAL
by Rachel McCartney
Would you like to send your tastebuds on a round-the-world tour in one day? The Geneva Street Food Festival returns from 9th-11th of June offering you a chance to try exotic food from participating food trucks and stands, many of which are new to the festival this year.
Taste a wide selection of beers, wines and spirits (my personal favourite – the gorgeous orange Aperol Spritz van) and enjoy some cool tunes from live DJs in the charming setting of the Promenade Saint-Antoine in the Old Town.
Originating in Asia, the popularity of street food spread to America before reaching European cravings. Geneva has fully embraced the Food Truck revolution with the introduction of a Food Truck Circuit as well as the Geneva Street Food Festival. As an expat Brit who loves her food, I can’t wait try the Geneva Street Food Festival for the first time this year – the aromas, the buzz and yummy food dished up by trendy foodies.
Street food offers something for every palate. We recommend you try out one of our favourites, if you haven’t already – Elsalad for their delicious wraps and salads, Street Gourmet for amazing finger licking burgers,
The Gentleman Lobster lobster rolls that are pure sunshine in a roll, Debi’s Kitchen for the most amazing fresh and flavoursome thai food and Croc Orient for a real taste of the Middle East with their popular falafel wraps. All these food trucks normally operate in and around Geneva.
One new name that’s popped up this year is Fork & Bottle – the only farm to table restaurant in Zurich. I’m very intrigued as to what they will be serving from their current restaurant menu.
